Swan Valley Weddings

Weddings in the Swan Valley.

The Swan Valley is on Perth’s doorstep and is home to huge selection of different tourist attractions. These include cheese tastings, chocolate and nougat tastings, animal farms, arts and crafts, honey tastings, beer and spirits venues as well as a large selection of wineries. Many of these venues have suitable facilities to be used as wedding venues. If you are considering the valley for your wedding then I hope some of this information will help. Having 15 years experience in the wedding limousine industry we have been to most locations and hear the feedback from transferring guests and the newlywed couples.  The comments are rarely bad but a few things may have been different had they realised before.

Accommodation:  Not usually a problem as Perth CBD is less than a 30 minute drive and there are also many choices closer by. Some of the venues in the valley do have accommodation suitable for getting ready before hand and as somewhere to stop after the reception. There are also a few Airbnb’s depending on what you require. Sometimes the guests may use the option of close by accommodation as well.

The seasons: For many months of the year the weather in the Swan Valley is ideal for weddings there is no issues. It always pays to have a fall back plan should the unexpected happen and it does.

The Swan Valley can be very hot during the summer months and is normally 2 Deg warmer than Perth and often the sea breeze does not reach the venue. If you are holding your service outside then consider looking for locations with good shade at that time of day to with enough room for everybody. You need to check this out yourself and not rely on the vendor’s interpretation of great shade. The pre dinner drinks are often an outside location. Is it suitable? Then of course the comfort level at the reception. Some venues have air conditioning and others fans and some nothing at all.  Beware.

Like the summer winter in the Swan Valley can be different from Perth. It can be a lot cooler through the day and at night time it comes in cold and damp. There are many venues that open to the elements and when night sets in they can be very cool. A roof overhead is not enough. The last thing you want is the guest leaving in numbers as it is just too cold. Some venues have gas heaters or similar which is great but check with management as to what happen when the gas runs out at 10 pm. Do they replace the bottle or is that it for the night. We receive many calls from the couples asking if we can come early to pick them up as most guests have gone home.

The Venue: Venues are plentiful in the valley and there are all different sizes and options to choose from. You do not have to have your service at the venue to hold you reception there. You may choose a church wedding or a service at another location and then travel to the reception. This can also give your guests a break and allow for some photos on the way to reception. The pricing and packages will need some research but reading reviews and other sources you should find a suitable venue. Unfortunately the flight path for Perth Airport is straight above the Swan Valley and the noise from aircraft can cause some interruptions to your service and proceedings. The closer the venue is to Guildford the louder the noise. Visit the location on the same day of the week and time to be aware and not regret it later on. Not a huge problem but be aware you may have to stop in the middle of your wedding vows. Most wedding venues have websites but nothing beats a personal visit.

Wedding transport:  Depending on the venue and your preparation and service location you may require transport. If it is a truly stunning vintage wedding limousine you require then Perth Vintage Limousines has the perfect solution. Your photos will look amazing now and always.  www.perthvintagelimousines.com.au
